Stories From Support

Many of our new customers require little or no intervention from our technical team when implementing their Egnyte cloud server solution. As soon as you sign up, Egnyte enables you to quickly and easily configure your cloud file server. Administrators can create their folder structure, upload data, create users and set folder permissions, making the system ready in almost no time.

However, in some cases our support team helps customers with additional set up requirements. A couple of weeks ago we helped one of our larger customers set up their cloud file server. They needed help integrating their Active Directory with their Egnyte Office Local Cloud, running on a Netgear NAS device. This integration effectively creates a single sign-on for their users, whether they are accessing data from the cloud or locally. This also allows their IT Manager to centrally update user information or add additional users from their Active Directory server and have it automatically sync that information to the cloud file server.

We recently completed their implementation by syncing 200 users, and a couple of terabytes of data to their local NAS device and the cloud. Although the setup seemed rocky at first, a few late nights did the trick. Once all the gears were up and running, our new customer quickly realized the value of using Egnyte. Even though it appeared to be impossible to initially set up their cloud file server, Egnyte has become a practical solution that they now use in their daily activities. As a member of our support team, I enjoy seeing our customers understand what Egnyte can do for them and how it can help their business.
